African Village & Gazelle Sterling Silver Dual Inkwells
So rare and bedazzling is this vintage African Village & Gazelle sterling silver dual inkwells: in between two inkwells stands a sculptural gazelle on a base plate featuring an exotic African village with a number of circular houses, topped by convex pyramids made out of thatched roofs and sticks. Some look like monolithic mosques built out of packed earth and stone. On the bottom left right corner, there is also a city wall resembling the Bab al-Futuh (‘Conquest Gate’) in the old city of Cairo, Egypt. The plate also features African oil palm or macaw-fat and Acacia trees. The size of the plate is 6.75” x 4”, with ink wells, 1.75” in height, with some indecipherable letters, and it weighs 256.5 grams.
